January 30, 2009: Our website provider installed new hardware in December to make it possible to offload email processing from the MySql server (our website depends upon the MySql server). Unfortunately, they still need to complete some minor hardware tweaks (and they won't accept my advice of using wood shims and liquid nails - ha...). Once completed, this should resolve the "slowness" issues we've been encountering. In the mean time, please be patient while accessing the website.
White Mountain Search & Rescue (WMSAR) is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of life by providing a search and rescue team capable of managing and effecting search and rescue operations. We respond to search and rescue of lost hunters, hikers, and persons who have wandered away from homes or rest homes.
WMSAR offers individuals with strong wilderness knowledge and experience the opportunity to apply their skills for the benefit of others in a survival situation. For novices and those with basic outdoor skills and interests, WMSAR provides practical training and opportunities to learn from skilled Incident Commanders and team members during actual search and rescue missions. WMSAR also needs individuals interested in less physical demanding roles such as radio communications, planning, and logistical support for team activities.
As a community-based non-profit volunteer organization, WMSAR relies on contributions from businesses and individuals as well as foundation grants. White Mountain Search and Rescue, Inc., is registered as a 501(c)3 charitable organization with the Internal Revenue Service. Financial contributions to WMSAR are fully tax deductible as charitable donations. Consult your tax professional for more information about deducting charitable donations.
